Twin Cities Events Roundup (May 15-31)
Sharing what's happening locally for networking, social & other events for the rest of the month!
Hey Twin Cities Collective!
There’s a lot happening in the next few weeks—from massive art festivals to intimate networking events. Whether you’re looking to explore the city, connect with fellow creatives, or just get out and enjoy some sunshine, here’s what you need to know:
The main event this weekend is without a doubt Art-A-Whirl—a Northeast Minneapolis staple celebrating its 30th year. If you’re new to town or just haven’t been, trust me when I say: you’ve got to go.
What is it?
Art-A-Whirl is the largest open studio tour in the U.S. Over 1,600 artists, makers, and creatives open their studios across 100+ locations. You can wander through buildings like the Northrup King Building, Solar Arts, and Casket Arts, check out workspaces, buy art, talk to artists, and support the local scene.
What else is happening?
🎶 Live Music: Catch concerts at Indeed Brewing’s Whirlygig.
🍕 Food Trucks + Pop-Ups everywhere.
🎨 Live Art demos, free glassblowing classes, mural tours, and more.
💃🏼 Artlesque (drag + burlesque meets cabaret) and Needle Drop Dance Parties.
Getting around?
Free trolley rides run throughout the Arts District all weekend, so you don’t have to worry about parking or long walks. It’s a super fun way to explore, especially if you’re unfamiliar with Northeast.
🏛️ Doors Open Minneapolis: May 18–19
Happening the same weekend as Art-A-Whirl, this citywide event opens the doors to 90+ iconic buildings and hidden spaces usually closed to the public. Think:
Historic theaters
Private clubs
Government buildings
Unique architectural landmarks
It’s free and it’s like taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the city’s coolest corners.
